Think Samsung, think innovation. A brand more often associated with commanding the electronic and appliance sphere, Samsung are also respected leaders in the delivery of solid surfaces to the design and architecture community with Staron®
June 4th, 2013
Manufactured from a natural mineral, refined from bauxite and blended with pure acrylic resin, Staron® Solid Surfaces are suitable not only for commercial projects, but for endless applications around the home – bathrooms, laundry, kitchen, even furniture!
The Staron® range is non-porous in nature, and no stain can penetrate into the material – providing a durable surface that is easy to maintain. The range is joined with a special patented adhesive and sanded – creating long and wide surfaces with no open joins.
The seamless nature of the product’s solid surfaces makes it suitable for wall panels, offering smooth, long, continuous walls that, again, have no open joins. Versatility of creativity is the hallmark of Staron®, where the malleable nature of the product allows the user to carve shapes, patterns, logos, or use lighting to bring a wall to life through backlighting.
Thermoformability is another key player in this product’s design, allowing for the creation of curved walls, furniture, benchtops, vanities, shower-bases – anything that is only limited by your imagination.
To celebrate the design versatility of Staron® and to recognise excellence in design, the Staron Design Awards are open for entries. The program is open to designers, architects and students across three categories – commercial, residential and concept. A panel of respected industry judges decide on the winners. Each edition winner is rewarded with cash prizes and media exposure.
All entries to the residential and commercial categories in 2013 also have a chance to win a design trip to Europe. More details and entry available on the Staron website.
