The age of collaboration in the workplace is the outcome of changed thinking, a result of re-structuring the workplace around the worker, enhancing the experience of working to ensure a better quality of output.
SW_1 Lounge with Pouff and Tablet
In SW-1, Coalesse and Scott Wilson from MINIMAL have created a suite of furnishings that speak to the evolution in our workplace behaviours and in turn they have deliver practical, chic results.
“Lounge inspired but task oriented” is the tag line here – the SW_1 range knows that the comfort of the user is key in the success of its adoption. To be aware of our comfort is important, to not have to be aware, for it to be inherent in our user experience, that is the ultimate goal.
With a lowered seat height, meshed back for breathability, the freedom of movement afforded by a swivel base and the integration of technical components for connectivity, Coealesse describe this collection as an “eloquent rethink of the meeting room.”
“The idea was that you would walk in to the room and you would instantly know something was different, just by the slightly lower height and the proportions of the chair, through a collection of observations you would connect the dots,” explains Scott Wilson (formerly Global Creative Director at NIKE), “…also there was a hole in the market for a really thin table top that had customisable top skins, from veneer to glass to solid surface [this way] people feel involved in the brand and it’s uniquely theirs.”
SW_1 Table with individual extension plates
Where furniture previously dictated the process, Coalesse and Wilson’s team present SW_1 as an alternative that supports the process. A range of tasks are inherently viable thanks to the collection’s flexibility and its range of options.
“We like to create things that last, it’s a very temporary culture we live in, so its nice to do something that might have a lasting impression in the market.” An assertion proven by the continued demand for the range, three years since first released.
