In the story of life, moments of conversation, connection and shared experience carry the narrative, and we should never underestimate the adventures that can begin with the magic words, “take a seat”.
June 30th, 2026
Whether it is a desk, a dining table, a bar, a reception area or a break-out space in an office, seating is fundamental to the quality of a space. We are at our best when our bodies feel comfortable, and our senses are engaged pleasantly.
This understanding of the interaction between human, object and function is at the heart of the Zenith Design Studio approach to creating and crafting exemplary furniture. The Basis seating collection expresses this in every detail, as a foundational range comprising dining chairs, low stools and barstools.
Basis embodies timeless simplicity in robust materiality that balances industrial pragmatism with organic sensibilities and refined, considered detailing.

It finds a niche in a wide range of settings, from hospitality and commercial workplaces through to public buildings and speciality residential. With its aesthetic flexibility encompassing either timber or steel frame options, there are a range of colour finishes, with additional options of fabrics for chair upholstery. This enables Basis to seamlessly complement any interior scheme, from bold urban flair to contemporary wellness-focused spaces.
The steel frame introduces a more industrial, lightweight character, while the timber frame brings warmth, softness and a more grounded presence. Both have been crafted to ensure ruggedness without compromising beauty, through exacting attention to the calibre of materials and meticulous manufacturing.

The coherence and distinctive flourishes such as the chamfered seat edges, the sleek yet rugged frames and legs and the ergonomic contouring of Basis seating are part of the recognisable design language of Zenith Design Studio.
On a pragmatic level, the Basis dining chairs are lightweight and stackable, delivering an element of flexibility and adaptability for spaces including restaurants, office collaboration zones and spaces used for meetings or events such as presentations or networking.
The Basis low stools are also stackable, designed with a wide seating zone that offers an immediate sense of welcome, security and casual relaxation. Imagine these in libraries, casual conversation areas, reception zones or for grouping around a low table.
Basis bar stools are an invitation to settle in and be at ease, with curved backs and seats to support a relaxed posture, and a sense of style and lightness that complements the contemporary hospitality ethos that balances between casualness and the sense of occasion.

Every detail including finishes, connections and proportions has been carefully considered to ensure the collection is straightforward and elegant while not becoming overly minimal or cold.
Basis chairs and stools appear as enduring, timeless and understated while still presenting with character and sophistication. It is a range that speaks to sensation and emotion, with a tactile quality that is welcoming and memorable in terms of proportions, comfort, detailing and materiality.
Across the entire Basis collection, the design approach aims to move beyond passing, fleeting trends to capture something intrinsic to the way seating both occupies space and holds humans within it. This is how we connect with each other best, seated and at ease, sharing moments in time and space.
