The national competition and mentorship programme for emerging industrial designers comes to Singapore.
June 11th, 2014
Founded in Australia in 2004, Launch Pad has become a pillar of the design industry, nurturing talent, launching careers and providing pathways for emerging designers across the country.
Now, Launch Pad comes to Singapore. More than just a competition for furniture, lighting or accessories design, its unique mentorship programme involves notable industry figures, providing emerging designers with support and guidance at a critical point in their careers.
In Australia, Launch Pad has helped launch the career of numerous design greats who’ve found success internationally, including Charles Wilson, Nick Rennie, Ross Didier, Trent Jansen, Ross Gardam and Tomek Archer. International judges having included Tom Dixon, Benjamin Hubert, Nathan Yong, Busk + Hertzog, Niels Gammelgard, Pearson Lloyd, Jehs + Laub and more.

Launch Pad promotes real relationships between people, ideas and products in design. The programme for Singapore will include three major components:
A national competition for design in the categories of furniture, lighting or accessories. Entries open 9 June 2014.
The Launch Pad Finalists Exhibition. This is held as a key feature of Singapore Indesign, which has previously attracted nearly 3,500 industry visitors over the course of one day
The Launch Pad Ultimate Prize Package. Two lucky winners will receive personalised industry mentorship from an established industry figure, offering valuable insights into developing their creative business, marketing their brands and products, finding retailers, connecting with manufacturers and more. Additionally, they will win a cash prize to put toward developing their prototypes, a three-year subscription to Cubes Indesign magazine, dedicated media coverage in Cubes Indesign and Indesignlive Singapore, and other media support and publicity from Indesign Media Asia Pacific, whose design titles include Indesign, Cubes Indesign, Habitus, Lookbox Living and more.
