In partnership with Schiavello, London-based studio Doshi Levien undertook an in-depth research programme to explore intelligent design solutions that could enhance working away from the traditional desk. The results are two new table collections called Parley and Goodwood.
“Based on our research, we envisaged a new working environment that lies between a café and office, something spatially inspiring like a gallery with the social informality and buzz of a café with high-speed connectivity. Personable and inviting, Parley and Goodwood are a collection of products that blur the lines between the traditional workplace and these anywhere spaces,” says Doshi Levien.
Parley is a table that fosters a sense of community and collaboration, and is designed for both dining and meeting environments. Featuring softly rounded surfaces and solid oak timber legs, Parley is available in three shapes – round, square and rectangle – and in different finishes including white MDF lacquer and natural stain. The table’s unique feature is its floor to tabletop cable management. It also comes without cable management for those who wish to use it in a café or dining situation.
The Goodwood table bridges the gap between a café and an office, giving rise to warm, inviting spaces to share ideas, gather or simply relax. In two heights and two different shapes, the tabletops overlap when the tables are used together.
The combination of oak edges and glass tabletop lends an appealing tactile quality to the design. And with its curved, low profile, Goodwood can be ideally placed in front of a sofa or in the middle of a group of chairs in a living room, or a waiting or reception area.
