As displayed at the recent Salone del Mobile 2016, ‘the pursuit of the essential’ continues to underline the design explorations of Arper. New products put forth by the Italian company this year remain true to its DNA of balance, colour, intuition, play, lightness, and family.
Forming part of the exhibition this year was new table system Meety, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina. Meety mimics the adaptability of Arper’s successful Catifa chair (also by Lievore Altherr Molina). Introduced in 2001, Catifa has evolved into multiple new models over time, proving its flexibility and timeless design.
Inspired by the architectural structure of bridges, which is both strong and lightweight, Meety is characterised by cast aluminium legs that offer a solid, yet almost invisible support to what seems like a floating tabletop.
Adhering to the needs of modern workspaces, Meety is customisable. The aluminium legs are able to marry diverse tabletops of varying sizes, shapes and materials, effortlessly adapting to multiple environments, be it the home or office.
The form of the tabletop ranges from basic shapes to the trapezoid, conceived to generate collaborative work environments with a less monotonous appeal. Like squares or rectangles, the trapezoid can also be used for varying configurations, be it for a private space or open environment.
A range of high-quality materials, such as laminated MDF and nanotech material FENIX NTM ®, or wood and glass are available for the tabletop design. Extensive customisation options ensure that the Meety table and Catifa chairs can complement one another and its designated space seamlessly.
Lievore Altherr Molina was founded by Alberto Lievore, Jeannette Altherr and Manuel Molina in 1991, with a humanist design approach that is informed by a fundamental desire for pure and beautiful forms inspired by the parameters of function, technology and context.
