A stellar lineup of winning entries demonstrates Asia’s interior design excellence at the 23rd annual awards.

The 2015 Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards (APIDA) received more than 650 submissions – surely a measure of how dynamic the design industry in Asia has become.
The Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA) is the driving force behind the APIDA Awards, which promotes outstanding interior designers and projects and advocates ethics and professional standards in the industry. Last year, the awards celebrated their 23rd year with entries from countries all across the region: everyone from Taiwan, China and Japan to India, Malaysia and Korea participated.
Matrix Design offices – the winning design in the Work Space category
The awards run across 10 categories, including Living Space, Public Space, Hotel Space and a Student category. Gold winners included Design Systems Ltd for TUVE hotel in the Hotel Space category, Rong Bao Zhai Coffee bookstore in the Food Space category, Hutong Teahouse in Leisure & Entertainment Space, and Matrix Design offices in Work Space.

The impressive 2015 judging panel included Tony Chi of Tonychi and Associates, Autoban founders Sefer Cağlar and Seyhan Ozdemir, Duddell’s and Press Room Group founder Alan Lo, and Simon Yu, an associate at Zaha Hadid.

The winners were announced on 23 November last year, at a gala dinner at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. In attendance was Hong Kong’s Secretary for the Environment, K.S. Wong, JP, and Timothy Fok, JP, a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, as well as many of Hong Kong’s most prominent designers.
