Sub-Zero and Wolf’s prestigious Kitchen Design Contest (KDC) has celebrated the very best in kitchen innovation and aesthetics for three decades now. Recognising premier kitchen design professionals from around the globe, the KDC facilitates innovation, style and functionality that pushes boundaries.
November 22nd, 2023
The KDC is a global stage for visionary kitchen design professionals who seek to redefine the boundaries of style, creativity and aesthetics. Completely free and easy to enter, the contest is an open opportunity for design professionals to get the recognition they deserve.
Entrants are required to have fully completed their designs and constructions within the contest period, which spans from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023. Their designs must feature at least one eligible Sub-Zero refrigeration unit and one eligible Wolf cooking appliance as the primary refrigeration and cooking appliances.
Entries are anonymously evaluated by a distinguished panel of seven international judges of previous KDC victors. These judges are true luminaries in their respective fields, spanning architecture, interior design, and kitchen design. They are united by a shared devotion to exceptional design and a fervent commitment to the design community.
Designs are subjected to a keen critique which assesses the functional and aesthetic use of Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, as well as the overall kitchen design’s aesthetics and functionality. This contest is open to a broad spectrum of design professionals – kitchen designers, architects, residential designers, interior designers, builders, remodelers, landscape designers, and landscape architects alike.
Enter and compete to win the prestigious title of Finalist and Global Winner—and a share of more than $300,000 USD in prizes. The top prize for Global Winners is an impressive $35,000 USD in each of the three categories – Traditional, Transitional, and Contemporary. Multiple additional awards are available for Finalists and Winners in other diverse categories, ensuring a wealth of opportunities for all participants.
The grand finale of the Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest culminates in the Winners’ Summit and Gala, slated for October 2024. This is where the thirteen global winners will be announced. Finalists will not only receive a cash prize but also an all-expenses paid trip for two to the KDC Summit and Gala, hosted at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida – an iconic resort that reflects the contest’s exquisite standards of design and sophistication.
Australian designers who have been honoured with global awards in previous KDC include Mim Design, Adam Kane Architects, Workroom, Spicer Architecture, Fergus Scott Architects and Chris Connell Design.
“For the past thirty years, it has been our great joy and honour to champion the creativity of the global design community through the Kitchen Design Contest,” said Jim Bakke, president and CEO of Sub-Zero Group, Inc. “Contest after contest, we have been continuously inspired by the impressive kitchen designs submitted and the exceptional creators behind them. We are proud to provide a platform for these pioneering professionals and their work to shine and receive the recognition they deserve.”
