It’s all happening within the disciplines of urban and landscape design, as several firms hone their capabilities in these areas through new senior appointments.

Top-tier Australian architecture and design studio, Architectus, has announced two new senior leadership appointments to its Urban Design and Planning and Transport teams.
Following a successful 18-month collaboration with the studio on Melbourne’s city-shaping Suburban Rail Loop project, in which she led the development of the Urban Design Strategy for SRL East, Mary Papaioannou joins Architectus’ Melbourne Studio as a senior associate. In her new role within the team, Papaioannou will lead strategic urban design projects, and Mark Bredmeyer joins its Perth Studio as a Senior Associate working across transport and infrastructure projects in Western Australia.
In Western Australia, newly appointed senior associate Mark Bredmeyer will play an integral role in strengthening Architectus’ Perth Transport and Infrastructure design team. His experience across all aspects of technical transport design will reinforce the studio’s capabilities in delivering high-quality, large-scale, and complex transport and infrastructure projects in the state.
ASPECT Studios is thrilled to announce the enhancement of its urbanism capabilities with the appointment of a new studio director, Tamara Donnellan.
Drawing on more than two decades of industry experience, Tamara is primed to lead the practice’s urbanism and strategic operations in Sydney. Her appointment complements the existing leadership team’s skillset and the talent and expertise present in the Sydney studio. She is set to assume an integral role in the evolution of ASPECT’s offering to clients and the communities their projects serve.
Four new leadership appointments in the Landscape Design department at McGregor Coxall complement a series of recent internal promotions across Sydney and Melbourne Studios.
“The immense contribution of this emerging spine has been the foundation of growth our Sydney Landscape Architecture team has been experiencing,” says Matt Ritson, the practice’s Sydney-based landscape discipline lead.
Julia Manrique studied Architecture in Barcelona, Spain, where she also gained professional experience in urban design and planning. Julia previously spent three years with a Spanish architecture firm that specialises in urban planning and design. She is interested in new urban design tools and methods that help regenerate urban areas to improve living conditions and environments for citizens.
Fraser is a UK registered Landscape Architect with a proven track record in the documentation and delivery of a broad range of public realm works. A passionate designer, accustomed to working in research-led, multi-disciplinary teams, he is committed to achieving design excellence and thrives on the challenges of implementing both sustainable and vigorous cities.
Katie is a passionate and driven Senior Landscape Practitioner with almost 15 years of experience based both in Australia and in the Middle East. Katie has a passion for large scale challenging and complex projects that instill positive change in the community with a focus on sustainable urban design and placemaking across all cultures.
Miguel joined McGregor Coxall in 2015 after completing his MA in Architecture at UTS. He has extensive experience in the delivery of projects from master planning through to construction documentation. His architectural background drives a sound attention to detail and he has quickly established himself as a valued member of the team with a flare for landscape architecture and urban design.
