Canterbury League Club is all about escapism, so when Altis Architecture set about redesigning the venue, they knew everything needed a certain look, including the carpeting.
Responding directly to the needs of the community, the new Canterbury League Club refurbishment sees an extension of the escapist resort aesthetic. Altis Architecture gave this a new spin through the introduction of a stylish and exciting contemporary venue aesthetic. This was done to both revitalise the club, as well as attract a wider demographic.
The new Canterbury League Club design sees a relaxed and seamless connection between the warmth of natural materiality, beautiful stone and timber finishes, with tropical landscaping and state of the art smart technology. The eye-catching new copper external façade serves as a controllable LED display – for nightly lightshows as well as promotional experienced for the club.
Inside, Above Left handled the carpeting of the club; with Altis specifying their Royal Thai carpet solution. Royal Thai is the result of unsurpassed manufacturing diversity and the modern evolution of flooring solutions. Engineered to provide a stylish, durable and return-on-investment-friendly carpet solution, the Royal Thai MegaPlank Axminster carpet tile offers near unlimited design options and peak durability.
Matching the durability and aesthetics of the iconic woven Axminster carpet, Royal Thai was an obvious solution for the club, as it can be engineered for large scale commercial solutions.
The refurbishment of beloved community driven venues is always a difficult prospect but with a careful eye for detail and a specifier’s dream when it comes to finishes like flooring, the entire Canterbury League Club project is a great success.
