What do you do: I’m an architect, who runs his own practice in Melbourne, and I’m also a cardboard furniture designer. I also teach in the Architecture department of the University of Melbourne. Aside, of course, from writing reviews of architecture, art and design.

Favourite designer: That is such a difficult question. Today, Droog pops into my head.

Favourite design destination: Today, Finland. And of course I am thinking of Aalto. Probably because I am currently tutoring in a ’history of modern architecture’ subject. And I’ve been there.

Work in progress: A cardboard shelf, folded from 1.8mm thick recycled board. Yes, it’s strong!

Inspiration: Environmentally sustainable design, which often means “don’t design anything new, use what you have already”.

Other areas of interest: Collecting contemporary art, exploring the history of Ancient Rome, playing tennis, internet Scrabble, jogging, inner-city living…
