Peter Röhrig, Wilkhahn Head of Global Sales, is leaving the company to launch an independent international management and sales consultancy.
September 12th, 2014
With the departure of Peter Röhrig, a long and formative chapter in company sales is coming to an end. The 39-year-old, who belonged to the “home-grown talent,” expanded the international business at Wilkhahn with a great deal of dynamism. From 1995 to 1998, he completed at Wilkhahn the practical part of a cooperative degree program in business engineering, with two years being spent at the Wilkhahn branch office in London.
His affinity for the foreign markets particularly vital for Wilkhahn led him to take a station abroad: He began his career by providing crucial support in establishing Wilkhahn Asia-Pacific in Australia, moving up from branch manager to sales and marketing manager to Co-CEO of the Wilkhahn subsidiary. This subsidiary underwent outstanding development and came to be an important part of the Group.
Röhrig, who served Wilkhahn Asia-Pacific from Sydney, Hong Kong, and finally from Singapore, was instrumental in setting up Wilkhahn Inc., which was established in New York in 2008. In autumn 2009, at the height of the global financial and economic crisis, Hahne brought him back to the headquarters and put worldwide sales under his leadership. In this capacity, Röhrig also demonstrated his flair and skill for the international project business. He brought fresh ideas and a great deal of dynamism to the sales work and was able to chalk up significant success. “We expressly thank Peter Röhrig for his impetus and full commitment, and we wish him all the best in his future career,” says Dr. Jochen Hahne, honoring the accomplishments of the Hildesheim native.
“The time at Wilkhahn shaped me and encouraged my development, and I will always carry a piece of the company in my heart,” says the 39-year-old. Röhrig will remain true to innovative German SMEs: He wants to start a consulting firm to use his international experience to assist companies on their way to global export markets.
