Rothelowman Architects and Piccolo Developments have cast away the drab stereotype of student accommodation with their new apartments in Carlton, Victoria.
Following on from the D1 development, the D2 apartments bring new style to an often-overlooked area of development. Featuring double beds, balconies and skyline views, the apartments are a refreshing take on affordable student accommodation, complemented by floor to ceiling windows and mirrored cabinets.
Developed by Michael Piccolo and designed by Rothelowman Architects, each of the 116 apartments were designed with functionality and beauty in mind. Intended for use by local, interstate and international students, the apartments have managed to bring a bit of luxury to student living.
The project is one of the most socially and environmentally conscious student developments to date, becoming one of the first of its kind in Victoria to receive a 6 star energy rating. To further add to the experience, artworks have been commissioned from local RMIT students to feature on every level of the building.
The D2 apartments are a much-needed step away from dull student accommodation.
