The making of Dekton®
Over a period of six years, Cosentino Research & Development, S.L. worked on the creation of a new, large-format surfacing product that would offer architects and designers unique properties, which were supernatural in their strength and unerring in both beauty and quality.
Produced in slab form, Dekton is subject to an extreme ultra-compaction process (25,000 tonnes) using a specially-developed press – the only one of its kind in the world. Following this, a thermal process imbues the slab with its essential physical, chemical and aesthetic properties.
The end result is a highly flexible and useful surface available as panels approximately 3,200 x 1,440 millimetres, in 8-, 12-, 20mm to suit various applications.
Cold resistant
Imagine a surface that is impervious to Thermal Shock and you have Dekton. Its natural resistance to ice and thawing make it suitable for the coldest of environments.
Non-porous
Conceived through a revolutionary process of ultra-compaction, Dekton is impenetrable, absorbing neither liquid nor gas: a perfectly formed surface that will never need to be sealed.
Abrasion resistant
A force to be reckoned with, Dekton remains strong against the elements and will never require refinishing – even in the most demanding high traffic environments.
Scratch resistant
With not one scratch to mar its surface, Dekton maintains an untouchable and flawless facade against the damaging forces of sharp edges, knives and blades.
UV resistant
From indoors to out, Dekton’s high resistance to ultra violet (UV) light protects it from fading or degrading – no matter the choice of colour or finish.
Heat resistant
Dekton remains cool in the face of high temperatures. It can come directly into contact with hot surfaces without burning, scorching or cracking.
15 year warranty
Cosentino backs its products with the utmost confidence, offering a 15 year warranty on Dekton ultra-compact surfaces destined for two-dimensional applications, such as worktops, facings, and wall and floor coverings that are installed permanently inside or out.
