An exhibition launching at Saturday in Design 2012 celebrates Herman Miller’s leading graphic design.
June 18th, 2012
Herman Miller’s influence is not limited to furniture design. For decades, the company has enlisted some of the world’s leading image-makers to create striking graphic art to support the brand.
Herman Miller’s affinity with graphic design dates back to its collaboration with such names as Don Ervin and Armin Hoffman.
Today, under the creative guidance of Steve Frykholm – whose own iconic graphic design work has been instrumental in shaping Herman Miller’s image – the company continues to demonstrate the ability for great design to influence business.
Just in time for Saturday in Design 2012, 10 top creatives from around the world have been commissioned to create an artwork that reflects the Herman Miller brand.
Eda Akaltun, Emily Forgot, Genevieve Gauckler, Sanghon Kim, Keiichi Tanaami, Mrzyk & Moriceau, Felix Pfaffli, Kam Tang, Jonathan Zawada, Craig Redman and Karl Maier will each contribute to Herman Miller’s design history with their unique contribution.
These pieces will hang alongside Herman Miller’s posters from the past from 14 to 25 August at Melbourne’s fortyfivedownstairs gallery.
Each piece of artwork will be strictly limited to 10 prints, screen printed in Melbourne and exhibited throughout SID.
The full exhibition will tour throughout the Asia Pacific region, beginning with Saturday in Design Singapore in October 2012.
