Pleat looks to the past for inspiration whilst maintaining a contemporary edge.
May 23rd, 2012
Pleat by Canberra-based designer Chris Hardy is a plywood stool that pays homage to Verner Panton’s ’S Chair’, and before that Poul Kjaerholm’s ’Cantilevered Lounge Chair’.
It was first exhibited at Workshopped in 2009 and the Australian Chair Survey, curated by Ramona Barry, at the Gallery of Australian Design in 2011.
The piece is now available exclusively through Café Culture in a variety of trend colours or in raw.
See Pleat up close at Café Culture’s Fortitude Valley showroom during Brisbane Indesign, and hear Chris Hardy talk about the inspiration behind his designs on Saturday 26 May at 2pm.
