What do you do: Senior Lighting consultant at Euroluce, on IES board and editor of IES NSW newsletter. Photograph light – those moments of delight where light shadow reflection and material dance together to reveal a new pattern lighting effect, a new vision rarely seen or captured.
Favourite designer: I have many for many different reasons: Toyo Ito, Paul Cocksedge, Hussein Chalayan, Marcel Wanders, Zaha Hadid, John Lautner, Jean Nouvel, Ingo Maurer, Achille Castiglioni, Rick Owens, Issey Miyake, Mari Funaki.
Favourite design destination: The Japanese have an amazing gift for balance and harmony in all their designs, no matter how great or small. Their respect for objects, textures, space and nature can be seen in traditional and new designs. I admire their ability to take an idea/concept and elevate it to new heights – always pushing boundaries, always with style and their innate restraint.
Inspiration: Light – its magical essence, its ephemeral qualities, they way it can surprise through light shadow reflection, colour. Nature, Technology, Outer space, the universe, quirkiness, style, ideas, stories, science, design.
Other areas of interest: Light, photography – of light…always that one-off moment where light will transform a material, colour, shape or space through light, shadow or reflection. Travel, design, food, science, dance, art.
