Cosentino, the world’s leading company for innovative surfaces the world over, is revolutionising the field of quartz surfaces with an innovative new technology called Silestone N-Boost.
September 14th, 2017
Silestone N-Boost is a remarkable technology to the designer finishes sector – one that modifies the surface of the material at a molecular level. Not only does this mean an aesthetic purity never known before, but the process also enhances the technical performance of the surface itself. With N-Boost, we’re looking at the dawn of an all-new era for quartz surfaces.
Patented by Cosentino, Silestone N-Boost lends a water repellent property to the surface of the quartz material – achieving an extraordinary level of stain resistance and ease-of-cleaning. This is possible primarily due to the fact that the N-boost treatment process modifies the molecular properties of the quartz surface, giving rise to an alteration in the surface tension of the material, and thus eliminating the micro-porosity caused by the polishing process and preventing any liquid penetration.
It’s high tech stuff to be sure, but the end result for the designer and user is a quartz surface that’s more brilliant than ever, and more likely to retain that brilliance for longer than ever.
The improvements which the N-Boost process offers by no means affects the other mechanical properties of the Silestone materials: high resistance to impact and scratching, manufacture in large size and customised formats, and adaptability to the most wide ranging demands of design and interior architecture.
“Innovation is in our DNA,” says Valentín Tijeras, Product and Innovation Director of Cosentino, “In our R&D Department we work constantly for the continuous improvement of our products, because we are aware that the path to success lies through the development of technologically advanced materials. With Silestone N-Boost we once again take a competitive lead in the market; to achieve the same result other manufacturers apply a sealant layer to the surface of the material, with the disadvantage that over the passage of time this wears out and stains eventually appear.
“The molecular fusion that we have obtained with Silestone N-boost lasts forever. The spectacular brightness and intensity of colour we have achieved with this treatment process is without doubt yet another differentiating factor that continues to position us in the vanguard in terms of innovation in the quartz surface sector.”
Silestone N-Boost will be initially launched within the Silestone Eternal Collection, as well as in the brand’s two new iconic colours: Iconic White and Iconic Black. During the course of the year this innovative treatment process will be progressively included in all the brand’s colours.

The internet never sleeps! Here's the stuff you might have missed
April is undeniably a month with design as the centre point, but there are many other topics, such as the future of our cities, which have come under debate. The biggest news of all though was a blockbuster INDE.Awards shortlist. From the publisher’s desk this April.
