Break bread with a culinary king

Homemade bread has reached unprecedented popularity in 2020 and for this next session of {small} bytes Chef Kasper Christensen will teach us this activity can be about more than passing time.

Once people stopped panic buying essentials from our supermarkets the trend evolved to bulk buying pantry staples – 2020 can well and truly be remembered (on the lighter side) as the year of iso baking.

For the next iteration of {small} bytes of happiness on Wednesday 26th August, Haworth have teamed up with Snaidero and Chef Kasper Christensen from Nordic Dining for a Sourdough baking class. Attendees are about to learn that baking bread is not only delicious, therapeutic, and a fantastic way to enjoy time indoors, but it can also be nourishing and healthy.

Whether you’re a complete newbie or looking for a refresher – or simply curious as to what exactly a starter is – the {small} bytes of happiness – Nourish Sourdough baking with Kasper Christensen sponsored by Snaidero is open to any and all.

“To me there’s nothing more satisfying than baking sourdough bread, it takes a lot of thought and care but the results are a gift in itself, and treating others with the fruits of your hard labour is enough to push the positive karma well and truly onto the bright side of life!” says Kasper.

Currently the Executive Chef at the Sydney Opera House, Kasper has worked in some of the world’s best kitchens in Denmark, France, Monaco and now Australia.

After completely a culinary degree in Denmark, Christensen joined the national military service as a chef on the Royal Yacht. He spent years travelling Europe cooking for the Royal Family before going on to work in some of Denmark’s top restaurants. He was lured by French cuisine and worked at Michelin starred restaurants in Monaco and as a private chef for members of the Monegasque royal family. This was when the relaxed Australian lifestyle appealed the most and he joined Peter Gilmore at the Quay Restaurant rising to the rank of senior sous chef and eventually moving across to Australia’s most iconic venue.

Held in the stunning Snaidero showroom, attendees of the {small} bytes of happiness – Nourish Sourdough baking with Kasper Christensen can register below or learn more through the Facebook event page. The first 20 to sign up before 19th August will receive a 30-year-old starter sent to their home.
