For over six decades and three generations, the family-run Wendelbo brand has had a heritage firmly grounded in the traditions of Scandinavian craftsmanship. From its beginnings as a small workshop specialising in upholstered furniture in 1955, the company has since grown into an international purveyor of design for both residential and commercial spaces.
Wendelbo’s Singapore mono brand showroom is located within an airy, pared down industrial space.
Down through the years, the brand has stuck close to its roots, not just in its craft traditions, but also in where it has chosen to set up shop (literally). That is taking a turn with its mono brand showroom in Singapore—its first outside Wendelbo’s flagship in Denmark, Copenhagen.
Brought in by local furniture store Made & Make, the 250sqm Singapore showroom is set within an airy loft space and is dedicated entirely to the Wendelbo range of sofas, lounge seating and complements. The collections featured in the showroom are dedicated to both residential homes and commercial spaces, and highlight the brand’s design versatility.
The pieces on display in the Wendelbo Singapore showroom speak to the needs of both residential and commercial projects.
While the brand undoubtedly champions Scandinavian design tenets of beauty, simplicity and functionality, it does so within a larger consciousness of international cultures and influences. For this reason, it works with a broad spectrum of contemporary designers like French Toan Nguyen, Swedish-based Note Design Studio and Italy’s Luca Nichetto.

The brand’s latest collaboration with Nichetto expresses its lucid understanding of contemporary living and is a suitable representative of the brand and Nichetto’s approach to design. Cinder Block sofa is a distilled set of blocks that can be manipulated and combined for an infinite variety of permutations.
It was conceptualised to fit in different environments and provides a solution to the mercurial ways of living today. Presented as a great island that floats most elegantly in a space, it is highly nuanced in its detailing and has Nichetto’s penchant for distilled, unpretentious design written all over it.
