Coupling ancient techniques with modern principles, GUBI’s latest Gamfratesi-designed creations are readymade for your space.
May 31st, 2021
Since its inception, GamFratesi has crafted designer furniture pieces under the watchful guise of GUBI, a furniture company intent on highlighting the work of the world’s best designers. The Danish-Italian design duo work in tandem with GUBI; and both parties possess the ability to fuse juxtaposing ideas of classic and the contemporary, intellectual and eclectic, understated and expressive, and the manufactured and unique.
The latest offerings designed by GamFratesi for GUBI have been made available to Singaporeans through Cult, a curator of spectacular designer furniture. The pieces are a range of chairs and tables that incorporate contemporary features with classic values to shape the feel and composition of a space.

GUBI’s Epic Table in the steel variant
The new Epic Table Collection takes its cues from the ancient periods, coupling modern design nous with the glory of the Greek and Roman architecture periods. The tables were born from an exploration into the archetypal origins of travertine and steel within an architectural context, that ran alongside an in-depth study of different colors and finishes, before lengthy experimentation with proportions, weight and form revealed the harmonious balance between base, geometry and tabletop in the final product.
The Italian-made tables are available in travertine for those looking for a more classic look that is ancient in quality, or steel for a modernist accentuation.

GUBI’s Beetle and Bat Outdoor editions
The Beetle and Bat Outdoor Editions are a sustainable, refined edition of two of GUBI’s most popular dining chairs. Reimagined for outdoor use, GamFratesi has reexamined the materials, aesthetic and function of both chairs, which has led to an outdoor variant in both ranges. Both chairs feature elegant, single-curved outer shells that offer universal appeal given their quintessential qualities. The strict colour palette of New Beige and Alabaster White for the shells and matching bases across both chairs ensures they fit seamlessly within a variety of public and private contexts irrespective of styling or architectural time period.

The Violin Chair is a new typology for the GUBI Collection: an understated half-arm dining chair that epitomizes GamFratesi’s craftsmanship, creativity, and material understanding, married with the poetry that comes with the utmost in design knowhow. The chair is a minimalistic wonder that does not require the welding of mechanical fixtures, seeing a solid piece of steel divided into two very fine lines with formal simplicity. The refined detailing of the Violin Chair shapes its characteristics, with elegant parallel bars and tapered legs offering a sense of luxury. The practicality of the chair is furthered with an embracing backrest that extends to partially support the forearm, elbow, or hands as an occasional armrest. This dual functionality makes the Violin Chair the perfect hybrid of dining chair and armchair, giving the user the ability to engage with those next to them and swivel back towards the table on a whim.
