Belgian designer Hans De Pelsmacker establishes a boxy and symmetrical silhouette for e15’s TAFEL table bench.
September 20th, 2016
The TAFEL table bench by Hans De Pelsmacker is a home furniture and public sculpture all at once. The versatile design combines the functionality of a table and bench to create an intimate sitting experience for kins and strangers alike.
Combining Pelsmacker’s classic, boxy and symmetrical design with e15’s high quality materials and handcrafted production methods, it is no wonder that this sculptural piece is widely featured in the collection of multiple museums.
At home, TAFEL can be applied in European oak or brushed aluminium, be it for a casual conversation in the living room, a cup of coffee in the dining room or to read a book in the study. There is also a proportionately sized-down version that is ideal for children.
For public zones, the highly versatile TAFEL can be made using sand-blasted concrete to enhance its endurance for rigorous usage.
Pelsmacker first established his cooperation with e15 in 2000. The Belgian designer has been crafting and designing functional sculptures, furniture, lighting and architectural installations since 1997.
