The merging of multiple offices into one large facility inspired a design based on collaboration and communication.

BPTP “Crest”, a project by Space Matrix, recently received the “Best Office Interiors” award at the International Property Awards Asia Pacific held in Kuala Lumpur.
The new building housing the corporate office of BPTP, a leading real estate developer in Northern India, is located in IPark, Gurgaon, and brings together different operations across the city under one roof.
“The new corporate office was an integral part of BPTP’s corporate rebranding exercise [and was also driven by] their growth plans as a company,” says Tithi Gautam, Senior Director and lead designer for the project at Space Matrix. “It was the first time in eight years that they were as a company consolidating their operations from various locations to one. What was needed from the designers was to understand the company, the essence of their existence and philosophy, and translate it through design to be reflected in the new office.”
Communication and collaboration formed the heart of the concept, which was then tied in with the company’s values and philosophy to make the design and space unique to BPTP.
Taking into consideration that the employees had been separated by different locations for many years, the move to instill a sense of ‘oneness’ and ensure collaboration required some drastic steps.
The key to this was a cut out in the main office area that allowed for visual connectivity and lateral transparency; intrusions by way of meeting rooms that jut into the space also served to enhance the dynamism of the space. In addition, a library was positioned at the base of the cut out as a place for gathering and informal meetings, with reconfigurable furniture giving employees the freedom to decide how they wanted to meet.
The concept of communication and collaboration also extended throughout the entire programme. The large reception, for example, was deliberately designed to span the entire floor. A coffee bar was also inserted here, thus turning the area into a destination in itself and a place for staff to gather.
Art pieces by young, upcoming artists were chosen to reflect the position of the company as that of a young, dynamic and growing organisation, while the premium range of materials and designs in the corporate floors and client facing areas served to underscore BPTP’s image as a developer of luxury residential and commercial projects.
