Smeg have jumped on board as gold sponsors of SiD, and we’re delighted to be taking the Saturday in Design journey with them.
August 2nd, 2011
The Coco Republic Design Centre in the AlexAndria precinct will be home to Smeg this year, as they share a collaborative space with Coco Republic Design Centre and Cadry’s l Classic, Contemporary & Custom Rugs.
Taking centre stage will be the interpretive installation ’Elementalism’, created for The Project by designer David Hicks and Coco Republic Design Centre, explores the ’elements’ that are fundamental to man.
Visitors to the Smeg’s space in AlexAndria will also have the chance to see the much-anticipated Marc Newson range of kitchen appliances (image featured above). We had a peek at them at designEX this year and they are absolutely stunning!
The appliances will be situated in the Smeg Café & Gallery, a place to check out the shiny Newson range and enjoy an Italian espresso or Sanpellegrino water, mini Italian pastries and an antipasto table of cheeses, grissini, marinated vegetables and prosciutto.
The Café & Gallery will pay homage to some of Smeg’s unique collaborations with the world’s best designers and architects. They’ve had some big names on board so specifiers have access to genuine design choice to incorporate a work of art into any ktichen!
Smeg also have 2 retro Fab 28 fridges up for grabs (pictured here with the Smeg BLV1 retro dishwasher) During SiD.
All you need to do is visit either the Smeg Café & Gallery in the Coco Republic Design Centre, or District01 in the How We Create space, leave your business card – and you will go in the running to take home a Smeg fridge as a souvenir from Saturday in Design!
