Indesign ventures into new territory with the launch of Indesign Indonesia.

Last year we announced the first expansion of Indesign Group into Asia with the launch of Indesignlive.asia and two new additions to the Indesign stable – Cubes and Lookbox, operating out of our brand-new office in Singapore.

Hot on the heels of our Singapore move, we’ve teamed up with Jakarta-based MPG Media to launch Indesign Indonesia – taking the much-loved and referenced Indesign format to the architecture and design community of the buzzing archipelago.

“Indesign is a leading commercial architecture magazine in the region (APAC) and Indonesia is a growing market without a good architecture magazine,” says publisher Denise Tjokrosaputro who, along with Editor-in-Chief Erika Amalia, is at the reins of the new publication.

“So, it is time and it is a perfect fit.”

Indesign Indonesia retains many of the features of the flagship publication, but is tweaked to its new audience.

“First we use Bahasa Indonesia instead of English. Then we also add local content, approximately 50%, to feature what is happening in the country as well as exposing notable local architects and designers,” Tjokrosaputro explains.

This includes Indesign Indonesia’s very first Luminary – architect and educator Han Awal, whose impact on the built environment stretches beyond his home country.

Indesign Indonesia’s first issue was released in December 2012, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive from designers, architects, developers and general readers alike, providing a much-needed platform for Indonesian designers to showcase their creativity as well as be inspired by what’s going on in the rest of the region.

“It has filled the void where people need information that is well-researched, well documented, well written and well laid out,” says Tjokrosaputro.

Issue 2 of Indesign Indonesia is set to hit newsstands on 28 March, 2012.
