DQ 40, the Summer Issue, has hit newsstands! Editor Alice Blackwood gives us a sneak peek of what’s inside...

Yes the rumours are true: DQ40 – Summer issue has hit the stores, and it’s flying its yellow masthead from newsagency shelves around Australia (and even further afield).

This issue is not to be missed, we’ve packed it full to bursting, with a blockbuster line-up of stories.

In our People section this issue, we meet with Giovanna Castiglioni, daughter of the iconic Italian designer, Achille Castiglioni. She shares with us some beautiful moments and design details from Achille’s studios – now the Studio Museum Achille Castiglioni.

Then we up the ante with Benja Harney, a Syndey based Paper Engineer, who has worked some real wonders with the folded sheet.

You can also check out Benja’s awesome paper scultpures and other work on his blog and website.

The last quarter of 2010 was a whirlwind of festivals, fairs and exhibitions and we capture some of the best moments in our Events section.

Particularly the London Design Festival,  which was served up with its own anti-venom! – The Anti-Design Festival.

We also visit Cersaie where we captured some fascinating trends in bathware and tiling, and push the boundaries with Queensland’s first ever design festival, Unlimited.

There’s lots to share with you but i’m running out of space, so i’m going to mention just two more things.

First is our annual Summer Trends Forecast and here we invite a group of stylists and design afficionados to share with us their vision for 2011.

It’s a great feature, with enough imagery to guarantee you walk away with a colourful thought-bubble floating above your head.

Last but most important is our collaboration with the Australian International Design Awards, to bring you the Australian International Design Awards Yearbook 2010.

This is featured in a special flip-cover section to the back of the magazine, and gives you the complete and comprehensive run-down on all the AIDA recipients for 2010 – not to mention the Australian Design Award – James Dyson Award recipients as well.
