DQ Editor Alice Blackwood speaks to Trent Jansen about his Space + Edra residency.
March 4th, 2011
Hi all,
The week has been filled with emails about the fast approaching Milan Furniture Fair, new European products hitting home shores, and projects from 12 months before finally coming full circle.
Which brings me to Trent Jansen’s presentation on his Space + Edra Residency, (held at Space Furniture in Melbourne on Tuesday evening).
To me, Edra is such an elegant, quintessentially Italian brand, and yet it’s so kitsch in aesthetic.
Trent, however, has seen what life behind the scenes is really like, and design is definitely not topping the Edra agenda when there’s food to be had.
He spent much of his time learning and being mentored while eating (which really appealed to me). And it was during these culinary sessions that he slowly peeled back the layers of how the company works.
