Making a statement of creativity, Studio IAAD has designed a project that is both beautiful and on brand and becomes a journey of discovery.
These days it’s all about the experience, whether a retail store, restaurant or a display home and understanding this, Studio IAAD has created an experiential destination for Mumbai-based real estate developer Mogul on the Godrej South Estate in the heart of New Delhi that is set to impress.
The Centre is the gateway to a new development and through a variety of curated experiences the visitor is able to transcend the norm and enter another world through this project. With deference to nature and, incorporating sustainable thinking into the design, Studio IAAD has been inspired to create a project that also includes a biophilic design approach.
The beginning of the journey for the visitor is through a series of spaces that have been conceived with a natural material palette that includes stone and timber. Moving from the deck lounge to the model and audiovisual experience, then to the show apartment and the customisation gallery, to finally arrive at a discussion lounge provides a fully immersive exploration of all the senses.
A focal point of the interior is the modular and reusable artistic installation that is larger than life and a feature of the project. A semipermeable ‘curtain’ has been constructed from MDF plates that appear to float in the air. The curved MDF leaves become building blocks that are staggered on two distinct levels or modules with each module painted a contrasting colour. This provides the structure with depth and dimension; however the illusion is further enhanced by the inclusion of smart lighting. The installation becomes a type of architectural chandelier that provides artistry, imposing and yet delicate.
Display buildings are often lacking in creativity however Godrej South Estate Experience Centre offers much more than the usual everyday setting. It is a taste of what is to come and a sample of what is to be enjoyed.
Studio IAAD has established itself as a premier architectural and design practice with a plethora of awards for projects that span the hospitality, commercial, institutional, retail and residential sectors. Founded by Rachna Agarwal in the millennium city of Gurugram in 2007, the practice has built it’s reputation on the premise of ‘It’s All About Design’ (IAAD) and is well known for attention to detail, high quality projects and memorable spatial experiences.
The Godrej South Estate Experience Centre is yet another project that typifies the design prowess of Studio IAAD – it is exciting, innovative and original and sets the standard for individual interaction and exploration.
