Developing seating ranges with unique, beautiful leather upholstery, Instyle has all your needs covered.
November 7th, 2013
Instyle has worked with leading leather tanneries and an independent consultant to develop a seating comfort rating to assist clients in selecting the most appropriate leather. The seating comfort rating is based upon the leather’s ability to breathe and absorb moisture, thereby transferring moisture away from the body.
The entire Contemporary Leathers collection has been independently tested to ASTM E96M-05, which measures the water vapour transmission to determine how the leather will behave against the human body. Each leather quality achieves a seating comfort rating from level 1 (lowest) to level 5 (highest).
Generally the most natural, pure Aniline leathers can breathe and absorb moisture more readily, while the more processed leathers with more finishes applied to the surface, such as Pigmented and Corrected Grain, breathe and absorb moisture less readily.
Many leathers within the Contemporary Leathers collection have achieved a Level 5 rating, which has an excellent seating comfort rating.
