Brazilian-born, London-based designer Chichi Cavalcanti distinguishes two new ranges for the CAVALCANTI brand, Flatweaves and Moon.
July 1st, 2013
Available through AJAR, the two ranges of bespoke flooring embody Chichi’s fondness for colour and abstract compositions. Skilfully crafted by hand the ranges, like all under the CAVALCANTI house, are made using New Zealand wool. The wool is dyed in-house with contract quality dyes to ensure the provision of light and colour fastness.

Flatweaves – Herringbone Stair Runner
The Flatweaves range was developed following the company’s philosophy of fusing contemporary aesthetic concepts with traditional textile techniques. The use of contract quality materials lends weight to the rugs’ durable and fade resistant qualities.

Focusing on a monochromatic palette and graphic patterns in bold proportions, the collection speaks to both a classic and contemporary aesthetic that CAVALCANTI believe “fits effortlessly in the office, hospitality or commercial setting”.

Flatweaves – Diamond
Flatweaves is available in bespoke sizes up to five metres wide and any length.

Flatweaves – Neon Black Stair Runner
The Moon range encapsulates a similar premise, with a strong aesthetic and the employment of contract quality materials. Made using bamboo fibre – a cellulose based material sourced in Europe that is also known as Tencel – Moon is a hand tufted rug that is silky to touch and considered as having a luxurious finish.

Moon – hand tufted Bamboo fibre
Distinct from Flatweaves, Moon is noted as being suitable for contract and heavy domestic use. It is available in a variety of colours ranging from classic neutral tones to ultra saturated contemporary shades and the range has a 16mm pile height with an overall height of 18mm.

Moon – Dark Blue
CAVLCANTI is headed by textile designer Chichi Cavalcanti who has been at the forefront of contemporary rug design for over a decade, creating bespoke flooring solutions for the contract, hospitality and high-end residential sectors.
