The Drum collection from Italy’s Billiani is a chair range that is functional and beautiful – serving as a designer statement on the versatility and timeless charm of wood.
The Drum seating collection exemplifies the Billiani design philosophy. Founded in Manzano, Italy in 1911, Billiani has always worked with wood. Right from the very beginning, the fine grains and warm quality of timber have always been at the core of the company, and Drum is a distillation of this respect for wood.
From father to son, the master woodworkers behind the company have continued to develop contemporary furniture for the world, and from master design Emilio Nanni, Drum is a seating solution for any contemporary design space.
The Drum collection is faithful to its wooden origins, and is characterized by the particular flaring of the seat – thick but tapered with a minimalist aesthetic that is also found in the Drum table top. Drum is already a complete collection, with chair, lounge chair, stools at three heights and variously sized tables, and the curved plywood backrest of each design object is gently supported by the back leg which gradually narrows to attach the backrest.
Drum is also available with upholstered seat, in stained or lacquered solid beech frames and seats finished fabric or leather. The matching Drum table complets the style of a room, also available in stained or lacquered veneer in various sizes.
