The time-saving alternative to designing joinery

Punt Mobles’ versatile storage solutions, led by the ever-popular Literatura and available through Design Nation, cut out the tedium and waste of custom joinery.

The life of a designer – contrary to popular belief – is often laborious. Many hours are spent buried deep in the tedium of CAD drawings, detailing every element of a design from shadow-lines to wood grain direction.

Joinery is one of those items which consumes days and days in the design timeline: measuring, designing, drawing up, annotating and liaising with suppliers. With relatively large proportions, joinery pieces can often be central elements of an interior, so it’s no wonder designers spend so much time refining every aspect of the design. But there is an alternative to spending hours on detailing joins, plinths, cable accesses and door handles.

Spanish manufacturer, Punt Mobles, has an extensive selection of beautifully designed, versatile storage solutions that are the perfect alternative to designing joinery.

Punt – Stockholm.

Born out of a passion for design in the mid-1980s, Punt began from a simple yet unique concept – “to solve the problem of storing books in a double row, making this task easier for reading lovers,” according to designers Vicent Martinez and Lola Castello.

Within a year, the design, known as the Literatura, had won awards and found its way across the world. The company was well and truly launched.

Punt – Literatura.

Since then, Punt has grown to become a multi-award-winning manufacturer, expanding its collection and partnering with renowned designers to create a range of bookcases, credenzas and buffets that solve any storage need. Names such as Sebastian Herkner, Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, Terence Woodgate, and the late Rodolfo Dordoni, among many others, have joined the list of Punt collaborators. In essence, these great designers have done the hard work; they’ve pored over the detail and produced a stunning collection of furniture.

Punt – Literatura Classic.

Punt’s Creative Director, José Manuel, explains the brand’s approach: “We speak of Art in Design, of treating design as if it were a sculpture, thinking in the details, in the combination of materials and in generating products where artisan workmanship and know-how experience is always reflected in each piece.”

Design Nation has been a premium partner of Punt Mobles in Australia for a decade. “Punt’s quality in both design and production is beyond stunning,” says Design Nation Managing Director, Marnie Hammond. “Their storage collection, with its flexibility and modularity, really takes away the need for custom joinery in most instances.”

Hammond continues: “The best part is that it hardly costs more than custom joinery, and it’s something that the client can move, reconfigure and reuse in future, instead of having to dismantle and discard.”

The Literatura range remains one of Punt’s most popular products, with its rolling front panel still a winning feature. Available in the original Classic model or in an open frame option, Literatura bookcases are fully modular and can be designed to meet the needs of any home or office.

Punt – Stockholm.

Meanwhile, another successful product is the Stockholm range. Stockholm credenzas are available on a low plinth, with legs or wall-mounted, and in a range of sizes and finishes. The compelling feature of the Stockholm is the anodised aluminium top plate which contrasts with the warm timber. The top comes in black, bronze, rose and gold finishes.

Stockholm also includes a media-ready version with easy cable management and doors that permit remote control of technical equipment. To complement the credenzas, the Stockholm range also includes tables, desks, floor and table lamps, and a rug.

Punt – Velasca.

The newest addition to the Punt collection is the Velasca range designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba. It includes sideboards, a bench, a desk, a table lamp and a rug. We have no doubt that Velasca will soon become a classic just like its predecessors.
