Whether adding a splash of individual flair or to create a unique identity for an interior space, there are advantages to choosing a bespoke flooring design. However, designers are sometimes led to think that custom flooring is too hard, too costly and subject to long lead times.
Thanks to modern materials, cutting-edge technology and a design-led approach to flooring, GH Commercial is making it easier for designers to see their specific vision laid out. Within their custom solutions range, GH Commercial offers locally-made products with fast lead times that are on budget, all supported by knowledgeable in-house design, sales and aftersales service teams that make the custom flooring process a breeze.
With zero design fees, smaller minimum order requirements and a focus on close collaboration with architects and designers, GH commercial is on a mission to make custom flooring a reality for all.
GH Commercial’s streamlined process leads designers from their initial concepts right through to manufacturing. Rather than scrolling through hundreds of standard products in the hope of finding something that matches the desired aesthetic, designers can expand their own creative vision using GH Commercial’s online design library and visualiser tool.
From fast turnaround Designer Jet® designs to luxurious wool blend woven carpets for high-end projects, GH Commercial offers carpeting options for a variety of purposes – whether it is to tie a space together, evoke an emotion or guide users to where to look next. The brand’s offering also includes handmade rug capabilities and Pattern Perfect® carpet tiles, the latest in tufting technology.
Utilising the latest in custom manufacturing technology, any striking pattern, drawing or image can be recreated in a multitude of sizes and texture option, offering a flexible, creative and performance-driven carpet solution. All custom products are designed and graded for commercial applications, and are eligible for a commercial warranty.
When the three young founders of the Caliper Journal were approached to design the Reading Space at the Australian Centre of Contemporary Art’s ‘Who’s Afraid of Public Space?’ exhibition, they turned to GH Commercial to help realise their creative vision. The grounding element within the space is a 1.96 metre wide sheet carpet, a fully-custom design made possible with local Designer Jet® technology.
Custom carpeting was at the centre of the design process, with the designers using its detailed texture and richness of colour to bring the Reading Space to life. Instructional design references were incorporated into the flooring to guide users, enhancing the decentralised nature of the space.
Custom Designer Jet® carpet was also the centrepiece of large-scale artist Rone’s latest installation, where he completely transformed a room within the Geelong Gallery. Exploring the concepts of beauty and decay, Rone’s full feature exhibition paid homage to the architecture and history of the building and observed works throughout the artist’s stellar career.
Rone worked with GH Commercial’s locally-based textile design team to create a custom Designer Jet® carpet, featuring built-in Quick Comfort® cushion backing. The design process started with the design team sharing designs from GH Commercial’s inhouse library, from which Rone further conceptualised the artwork he envisioned for the space. The end result is a beautiful custom carpet with mesmerising detail that allowed people to feel immersed in the exhibition, with the overall lushness, texture and performance to withstand over 46,000 visitors in 11 weeks.
