The tallest office building in Brisbane has Corian® Solid Surface as facade and interior cladding
April 1st, 2013
One One One Eagle Street sets a new benchmark for innovative architecture with its cladding of DuPont™ Corian®. Taking on traditional cladding materials, it has been used to create an impressive facade and inside features, including a gravity-defying staircase, escalators and a café.
Invented in 1967, Corian® is the original solid surface – seamless, non-porous and homogenous, made from natural minerals and acrylic resin. Its design flexibility is really showcased by One One One Eagle Street – the tallest office building in Brisbane.
On the outside, Corian® has been used to clad an impressive structure of V columns. These were designed to symbolise the fig trees growing in the area, and the Corian® cladding creates an effect that is both majestic and resonant of a lightness.
Corian® also lends itself seamlessly to the interior of One One One Eagle St. The building boasts generous public areas, including a café clad in Corian®, and it’s also used to clad the staircase and escalators, showing how the virtues of smooth, curving Corian® can be employed with engineering expertise to create a fully self-supporting structure, combining eye-catching form with necessary function.
