The new completely Australian-made stackable wooden stool
February 19th, 2013
Bootcut takes its name from the shape of its legs – just like a pair of bootcut jeans. The design was inspired by a research project investigating the Australian-designed product market.
Chris Hardy found that there was a gap in the market for Australian designed and manufactured four-legged stackable timber stools. Aiming to fill this gap, he designed Bootcut to be “a welcoming product”.
The research and development phase was greatly informed by Chris’s focus on activity-based working, and this is perhaps part of the reason that Bootcut creates such a personable effect.
It has a friendly presence. Its bootcut legs and timber body exude warmth and personality.
Precisely because of its point of difference – being made in Australia from locally sourced materials – Bootcut has a short lead time and can be customised without hassle or delay.
It stacks at 40mm intervals, so works well in large number hospitality/commercial situations, but its ‘welcoming’ presence means that it works equally well as a standalone in the home.
