This architects’ desk from Swedish designer Kristoffer Fagerstrom is inspired by the idea of the black box.
June 23rd, 2011
Kristoffer Fagerstrom has fused old and new, traditional and modern to create an architects’ ’black box’ – an old-school style desk with hidden compartments, rulers, magnets and sketchpaper, but incorporating the must-haves of modern practice – USB hubs and power outlets.
It’s a beautifully crafted object, with a charred wood finish offset with brass fittings.
Fagerstrom wanted to evoke images of fire, the veneer charred and sooted as one would imagine a real black box to look.
It’s a desk of secrets, just begging to be touched and explored.
