To raise money for breast cancer research, six respected design firms have been set an unusual task – turn a white plastic puppy into an innovative design object.
August 26th, 2008
ECC lighting + Furniture, in conjunction with Brisbane in Design and the National Breast Cancer Foundation are embarking on a unique fundraising venture.
‘puppy4life’ will see six MAGIS Puppies, from designer Eero Aarnio, transformed into innovative design objects then auctioned to raise funds for breast cancer research. The only rule – the designs must still resemble the original shape of the puppy.
The iconic Puppy does not have a definite use – a stool, a toy or just a sculpture, it can be anything its owner would like. The six design firms – Cottee Parker, Cox Rayner, Geyer, GHD, Mirvac and Studioplus – have been set the challenge to make it their own. A seventh Puppy will be decorated by the students at Fortitude Valley State School.
The finished Puppies will be on display at the ECC Lighting + Furniture showroom during Brisbane in Design (20 September 2008).
