How does a French touch affect the Australasian design landscape?

In 2015, the event has attracted nearly 300 exhibitors from 25 countries, ranging from young, emerging designers to recognised brands. The maturity of the event is also evident – not only is MAISON&OBJET Paris celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, but the teething pains of its Asian debut in 2014 have given way to smooth, coherent management.

In terms of exhibitors, the list has swelled dramatically from 2014’s 180, with over half of all exhibitors being newcomers. Compared to last year, there was a noticeable focus on small, artisanal products, with textiles and ceramics in abundance. Eclectic, and sometimes surprising, the halls of Maison & Objet Asia 2015 are rich with inspiration for decorators, stylists, and consumers.

Australians exhibitors included bathware brand Apaiser, luxury fragrance, candle and soap artisans Plain & Simple Australia, and Jenny Jones Rugs.

The international mix of exhibitors has also been strengthened – as Philippe Brocart, Managing Director of MAISON&OBJET comments, “MAISON&OBJET ASIA has, by the high quality and diversity of its offerings, struck a good balance between Asia and the West, thus becoming a unique platform bridging different markets across continents.”

Maison & Objet Asia is an important component in the growing network of design events in the region, from the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) and Singapore Design Week, to Shanghai Design and our own Indesign: The Event Series across Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Brocart affirms, “We are very proud to be a part of the design community and to highlight entrepreneurs, young designers and creative brands …

MAISON&OBJET is about bringing together all the arts of living, gathering together players in the sector, choosing the best offer, deciphering new trends, foreseeing consumption movements, offering new sources of inspiration, revealing talent, stimulating the market and promoting creativity.”

This energetic alliance of events is evidence of the global pivot towards Asia as the new leader in industry and creativity, and promises international collaboration and cooperation in this dynamic region.

MAISON&OBJET is a welcome new player in this market, contributing a fabulously french touch to the design landscape.
