Levente Szabo wins international award for eco-friendly washing machine

Hungarian Levente Szabo, won the international Electrolux Design Lab 07 award for e-Wash – a washing machine that uses a natural detergent made from soap nuts (pictured).
Open to industrial design students, Design Lab 07 is Electrolux’s annual initiative to encourage the design of eco friendly household appliances for year 2020.
Electrolux, the world renowned household and appliance innovator held the special award ceremony in Paris on November 28.
This year’s entrants saw hundreds of environmentally friendly household appliances and solution ideas. To push the finalists to reach their highest ability, Electrolux selected a jury globally renowned in the environmental, design and technology industries.
Henrik Otto – the senior president of global design at Electrolux, Matali Crasset – award winning French industrial designer, and Celine Cousteau – international environmental activist, were among the handpicked jury.
The winning contestant received a cool $5,000 and a six month internship at one of Electrolux’s global design centres.
