Waterloo’s Danks Street precinct is becoming a hive of cultural activity. With arts and food already thriving in the Sydney suburb, design has joined the party.

The pyd design complex (named after the bordering Phillip, Young and Danks Streets) will be holding their first ‘designer markets’ in conjunction with the City of Sydney’s Danks Street Festival on Sunday 26th October.

The markets aim to foster young and emerging designers, and with over 30,000 visitors expected at the festival, those on show will have a large audience for their designs and hopefully get noticed.

The markets will also provide retailers, manufacturers and design hunters with an opportunity to see the latest and most innovative designs from Sydney’s new designers.  The pyd. retail complex, comprising design showrooms, an exhibition space and café, was designed by architects, Mac-Interactive.

The Danks Street Festival will offer an array of activites celebrating the cultural diversity of the area including live music, produce markets and a specially prepared menu from Danks Street Depot Executive Chef, Jared Ingersoll.
