The design community descended upon the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition for the 22nd Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards on November 25.

Leisure & Entertainment Space: Hankou City Plaza International Cinema by One Plus Partnership (Gold)

Established in 1992, the Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards is held in Hong Kong every year and honours those whose oeuvres have made an impact in the design scene. Chaired by Wesley Liu, this year’s jury members included Kenneth Ko, who nabbed the Lifetime Achievement Awards at APIDA 2013, Patrick Leung, Sarah Khoo, Ziggy Koo, Christian Low, Mark Lui, Cassie Hansen, Vaugan Dai Rees, Johannes Torpe, Ijima Naoki, Jong Ho Kim and Keat Ong.

Installation & Exhibition Space: Domani Construction Company (Gold)

APIDA received over 600 submissions from the Asia Pacific region including those from mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Korea. A total of 100 awards were handed out across 10 categories, including Leisure & Entertainment Space, Shopping Space, Work Space, Living Space, Installation & Exhibition Space, Food Space, Public Space, Hotel Space, Sample Space and Student.

Public Space: Unlimited Boundary by KLID (Kris Lin Interior Design) (Gold)

New to this year’s APIDA is the “Best 10 Award”, which saw the 6th – 10th place in each category being recognised on stage.

Shopping Space: Camper Showroom/Office by Neri & Hu Design and Research Office (Gold)

Work Space: Flamingo Shanghai Office by Neri & Hu Design and Research Office (Gold)

Neri & Hu Design and Research Office won big, nabbing gold in a total of three categories: Shopping Space, Food Space and Work Space. Sample Space was a particularly tight race, which saw Danny Cheng Interiors’ International Private House being pitted against Elevation Partners Company’s Gramercy – Showflat A. The jury decided to settle on two Silver Awards.

Antony Chan, Chairman of HKIDA said in his opening speech: “It is my honour to carry on the fine tradition of APIDA, which carries the theme of “Shape Your Space”, representing the way we as interior designers work, combining practicality with visual aesthetics and opens up endless possibilities for better living.”

Living Space: Matrix Interior Design (Gold)

Student: Tranquility by Chhavi Cheng Pui Wa & Dominic Cheung Kai Shing (Gold)
