Swedish design meets Italian fashion in an uplifting collection of exclusive woven floors.
January 6th, 2014
Swedish flooring company Bolon and Italian fashion house Missoni have collaborated to design an uplifting collection of woven floors, which reflect the best attributes of both brands.
“My sister Marie and I came into contact with Missoni a few years ago and we quickly found common ground: the same philosophy about life, [and] views about design. Both Bolon and Missoni are strong family businesses – [we have our] own production lines, [we are] third-generation entrepreneurs, [and] our products are woven. As you can imagine, we saw eye-to-eye on most things,” says Annica Eklund, Managing Director of Bolon.
“The idea of entering into a partnership also came naturally. As you know, we love finding new dimensions and setting ourselves new challenges. Creative collaborations, like this one with Missoni, give us the energy to shift into a higher gear,” she adds.
Bolon by Missoni is based on Missoni’s classic patterns and generous range of colours, which Bolon has reproduced using the latest weaving technology. The high energy, playful and very flamboyant collection is available in three designs – Optical, Bayadere and Flame – with each design offered in a variety of colours.
“I am incredibly proud of the results,” says Marie Eklund, Designer and Creative Director at Bolon. “We are treading on virgin ground here. No one has seen anything like this either from Bolon or anywhere else in the market.”
