Australia’s Trend Du Jour: Cross-Industry Practice
Nowhere else in the world does cross-industry practice quite like Oz. A quintessentially Australian form of design practice, Australians are leading the world in this trend to look outside of the traditional “industry” box and search for creative alternatives both in practice and in business. The design market is changing. Clients are expecting more and more from their designers, and the need to wear more than one professional hat is no longer an option, but a necessity.
Industrial designers are teaming up with artists, interior specifiers are working with fashion designers and suppliers are even partnering with industries like dance and performance art.

Power Personalities: What Brand Of Leadership Is Dominating The Australian Design Community?
It’s a commonly held view that people who perform best in business are extroverts. This hotly-debated issue has many in the industry questioning whether extroverts are infact the opposite of what the industry needs right now – petitioning that it takes an ambivert to be a successful design leader. Featuring some of our DQ Designpreneur heavy-weight personalities, we will unearth what traits you need to become a true “business of design” leader, and discover if our industry calls for an entirely new breed of power personality in the post-GFC design economy?
