‘We Live In Your World’ is set to feature Perera in discussion alongside Shona McElroy, Simone Haag and Hali’s managing director, Dan Swart.
March 17th, 2025
Hali Rugs, a leader in handcrafted rugs, is set to host an exclusive panel discussion on meaningful interiors in Melbourne. ‘We Live In Your World: A Conversation on Creating Meaningful Interiors‘ will take place on March 20th at Hali Rugs’ Richmond showroom, bringing together prominent Australian designers Brahman Perera, Shona McElroy, and Simone Haag, with Hali’s Dan Swart moderating the discussion.
‘We Live In Your World’ is a wider series that aims to undertake an intimate exploration of the lives of Australian creatives. Melbourne-based interior designer Perera kicks the series off by showcasing the style in his very own terrace house.
“A home should reflect the life you lead and the experiences that shape you,” says Perera. “It’s more than aesthetics – it’s about creating a space that feels personal, where your passions, travels and culture come through. Every material, texture and collected piece tells a story. Surrounding yourself with meaningful objects – built on the foundations of a beautifully crafted rug – adds depth and warmth to everyday life.”
The panel event on March 20th will explore the role of craftsmanship, materiality and storytelling in shaping interiors. Panellists will discuss layering textures, curating personal collections and designing spaces that reflect individual experiences. For Hali, the conversation is directed towards accompanying their commitment to high-quality, timeless pieces that enhance everyday living.

Dan Swart comments: “‘We Live In Your World’ celebrates how Australia’s leading designers create spaces that tell their personal stories. Our working partnership with Brahman makes him a natural choice to kickstart this initiative. We share a passion for craftsmanship and design, and are aligned in the understanding that thoughtfully composed spaces evoke a feeling – that irreplaceable sense of home.”
Tickets for the March 20th event (6–8 PM) at 492 Church St, Richmond are available via Eventbrite here.
