Project:
Australian Bureau of Statistics Office
Project Overview:
When surrounded by a sea of highrise it is nice to have a small piece of nature at your feet. The design team at Tsar worked with Heidi McIlveen of CCPCORP to create a unique flooring solution for the Australian Bureau of Statistics office in Market St, Sydney CBD.
The concept was based around the idea of allowing the outdoors in, while still retaining a polished and sophisticated aesthetic. The artwork referenced nature, distorting it in a pixilated manner representing the collection of information at the ABS. For the design of the rugs, graphics have been abstracted by the integration of repetitive geometric forms. Inset rugs have been fitted into the breakout areas to create a lively, contemporary feel. The scale and colours have been carefully selected to complement and enhance the other key design elements in the building. The distinctive imagery used is echoed throughout the building which successfully unites all areas.
The outcome is exciting and sophisticated rugs which stand alone as artwork but contribute significantly to the overall cohesive design of the interior.
