The Herman Miller Collection, officially launched at 2011’s Art Basel Miami Beach, will tour the Asia Pacific region in 2012.
December 19th, 2011
The Herman Miller Collection is a presentation of over 650 pieces – including the Nelson Pedestal Stool by George Nelson and a new version of the Eames shell chair which features moulded plywood in place of the current coloured polypropylene.
First showcased at Art Basel Miami Beach in December 2011, the acclaimed Collection is now set to tour the Asia Pacific during 2012.
The idea for the Collection dates back to 1952, when George Nelson wrote in his introduction to the Herman Miller catalogue of “the continuing creation of a permanent collection designed to meet fully the requirements for modern living.”
Nelson established a program and philosophy for the Collection that is being continued today by Herman Miller’s USA team. Classic pieces from Herman Miller’s archives have been updated to meet modern standards of sustainability and durability and restored to their designers’ original intent.
As the Collection grows it will be added to with further archival designs, as well as new products developed in collaboration with contemporary designers – a true celebration of Herman Miller’s design philosophy, linking the company’s past, present and future.
Stay tuned for more information on when the Herman Miller Collection will reach our shores. In the meantime, visit the Herman Miller website to view the product range.
