Steelcase has been named among the Top Technology Innovators in the InformationWeek 500.
September 23rd, 2011
At the InformationWeek 500 Conference in California earlier this month, Steelcase was named in the annual list of America’s most innovative users of business technology.
The accolade came in recognition of the company’s contribution to technology and connectivity in the workplace, and the changes the company has made to the internal work structure and office environments of the workplaces it manufactures – for example, with the media:scape HD video conferencing system.

“Our company is set apart from most because of our research abilities,” said Steelcase Inc. CIO, Robert Krestakos.
“It is our job as a company to understand the way people work, and the implication new devices and new technologies will have on organisations, and on work in general.
“We’re able to take those rich insights and apply them to our IT, and product development, efforts.”

Steelcase invested significant time and resources in the development of the groundbreaking media:scape, which combines innovative furniture design and workplace technology to provide a platform for seamless collaboration via videoconferencing. media:scape is now a vital tool for business with offices that are separated geographically and yet still need to work closely, in real time.

More information on media:scape can be found here. Visit the InformationWeek 500 website for more on the significance of the annual listing.
