Rina Bernabei and Kelly Freeman are the 2007 winners of the Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award for their Totem lights. In Milan this April for the I Salone furniture fair, the duo will have their lights displayed at Zona Tortona as part of DesignPlus.
April 15th, 2008
The Totem lights are an eclectic jewel-like collection of forms and colours, that are only limited to the user’s arrangement. The three separate lights work either as individual pendants, or they can be ‘stacked’ in multiple different configurations to hang or create floor light installations.
They have a smooth finished outside surface, but have highly defined cut crystal-like patterns on the inside, that reference precious family heirlooms. This decorative element comes to life once illuminated – a bernabeifreeman trademark.
The three different forms and internal patterns were designed to complement each other, yet offer different lighting solutions individually. They sit as a family to be used in clusters, or in hanging or standing columns.
