Blok Furniture recently teamed up with Geyer and Alternative Surfaces to create a custom result that makes you look twice.
October 6th, 2009
Concrete may not be the first thing that jumps to mind when thinking of office furniture, however, this was exactly the finish that design firm Geyer envisaged for the main staff function space at QIC’s new multi-level fit-out in Central Plaza Two in Brisbane.
The team at Geyer Brisbane realised that solid concrete furniture was problematic in terms of weight and flexibility of arrangement, so they contracted Richard Park at Blok Furniture to work out a solution.
The answer for Blok was the unique ‘X-Bond’ product from Alternative Surfaces, which allowed the designer to produce three large tables and eight bench seats, providing the pre-cast concrete look without the weight.
‘X-Bond’ in Blanco was chosen, with a number of finishing options presented to the client. After a particular texture was selected and applied, the setting was finished with a low-gloss penetrative sealer – providing protection from bumps and spills.
Richard has developed a reputation in furniture design for crafting affordable, innovative and high quality Australian made products.
With a solid client base, an ever-increasing range – available on reliable lead times nationwide – and a growing portfolio of custom projects for interior designer and architects, Blok continues to provide innovative solutions for commercial and residential environments.
