The KBDi Designer Awards 2015 celebrates the incredible talent of Australia’s finest kitchen and bathroom designers.
October 20th, 2015
At the KBDi Designer Awards 2015 Gala event in Cairns this August, Brisbane designer, Darren James was awarded Designer – Medium Kitchens QLD and the award and title of KBDi Australian Certified Designer of the Year 2015. Darren has also won a place on the KBDi Designers International Tour 2016, which includes entry to the renowned design fair, Salone del Mobile (including EuroCucina), in Milan.
Darren’s first project was an open-planned kitchen that looked beyond the limited footprint of the original kitchen, and created a new space with exceptional flow to and from adjoining living areas. The judges commended Darren on the symmetry of the design, and the balanced material selection.
In striking contrast, the designer’s second project was a dramatic recreation of Hollywood Regency style. The judges complimented the rich pallet of dark stained oak timber and black benchtops and tiles, and commended Darren on the intricate detail on display throughout.
The KBDi Designer Awards program for 2015 is sponsored by Lincoln Sentry, Cabinet Makers Insurance Brokers, KBDi Designers International Tour 2016, Smeg Australia, Universal Magazines – Kitchen and Bathroom Quarterly and Austaron Surfaces.
